This week, Lloyd’s Maritime Institute proudly features Azizur Rahman as our Cadet of the Week — a Marine Engineering cadet driven to blend traditional skills with digital innovation.
◆ Who is Azizur Rahman?
Azizur is a third-year Marine Engineering cadet at AMET University, Chennai, proudly sponsored by A.P. Moller – Maersk. He is set to graduate in 2026 and begin his first sail later that year. With industrial exposure at Hindustan Shipyard Limited and Tata Motors, he has developed expertise in propulsion systems, diagnostics, and sustainable marine operations.
◆ What Sets Him Apart
His research on AI-powered predictive maintenance and Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) monitoring highlights his vision for smarter, eco-friendly ships. He aims to reduce downtime, improve efficiency, and minimize environmental impact through data-driven systems.
◆ Experience & Contributions
- Creates technical content, training materials, and visual guides to support fellow seafarers.
- Contributions featured by Merchant Navy Decoded, showcasing his ability to bridge engineering and communication.
- Engages in innovative projects to enhance maritime knowledge-sharing and sustainability.

- Certified by IMarEST, The Institution of Engineers (India), and the International Association of Engineers.
- Published research on AI-Optimized EGR systems (ICAIO 2025) and Predictive Maintenance (SEA – THE FUTURE 2025).
